Laval – Hydro-Québec Offices

To optimise energy usage, the Hydro-Québec Administrative Centre in Laval, Québec was equipped with a new HVAC system. The heat pump system handles three different environments (an office area, a workshop area for vehicle repair and storage, and an unheated “shelter block”) while at the same time recycling interior heat gains and using a geothermal system for heat source and heat rejection. These installations operate under the supervision of a computerised energy management and control system. While the annual savings calculated on peak electrical demand were 600 kW, the annual cost of operation was reduced by 26% (when compared to a conventional system).

Montréal – McGill University

Not only was the Engineering & Design Department at McGill University able to restore one of the campus' architectural landmarks but, by deciding to incorporate a ground-coupled heat pump system in Lady Meredith House, annual heating and cooling costs were cut by almost 40%.

Montréal – Biosphere

Montreal's Biosphere is a unique interactive museum aiming to raise awareness of the Saint-Lawrence river and the Great Lakes ecosystem. Due to its specific architecture, energy consumption is substantial. The combination of a geothermal system and leading-edge technologies produces an impressive energy efficiency.
